WHO ARE WE ? |
Design Assistance Corporation was founded in 1980 as a full-service modelmaking company serving engineers, industrial designers, and marketing professionals through the design and fabrication of technical models and mock-ups. Projects undertaken most often related to the design of chemical plants, refineries, power plants, nuclear plants and large industrial equipment. Our staff included, and still includes, process piping, mechanical and electrical designers. Rather than being a simply a pretty picture, our models were a integral part of the engineering and design process. In 1982 we began to apply our knowledge and skill to the fabrication of training-related models and mock-ups, addressing the growing training needs of the nuclear industry. This activity blossomed, resulting in projects for virtually every nuclear utility in the country. Along the way, in our interactions with our customers, we were often asked "Do you have anything of coupling alignment?" or "Do you have anything on process control?". Ultimately we realized the point... our customers needed realistic, industrial-grade, generic training devices addressing maintenance fundamentals. Further, we found that few products existed that matched their needs. Our product line's development started in 1988 with our original Kingsbury
Bearing Model. Still offered today, it has, to some degree, become a historical
footnote within a product line addressing a broad range of more fundamental
and comprehensive topics. In spite of all of these changes many things about
our company have remained the same; our commitment to high levels of craftsmanship,
our interest and knowledge in industrial equipment and systems and our interest
in solving our customer's needs on a one-on-one basis. |

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER ? |
We offer a system of hands-on training that produces measurable results. Results that will begin yielding financial benefits immediately. While our training materials often include a "related" or informational element, the real focus is on teaching the student to do his job... real industrial-grade learning experiences. Our offering consists of realistic, task-specific training aids, inexpensive yet informative related training books, simplistic course guides, and comprehensive fully-detailed exercises. These materials can be used together to create a complete self-directed or instructor-lead training system or they can be purchased individually to supplement an existing training program. Perhaps most importantly, we support and encourage customization to match our unique training requirements. We are happy to quote on and assemble unique devices. We are willing to adapt existing hardware to match your requirements. We are willing to write or rewrite training exercises to match your plant-specific equipment and procedures. WHAT IS OUR BASIC PHILOSOPHY ? |
| We operate as a service company. We believe that your training needs cannot be addresses by simply ordering from a catalog. Based on a healthy dialog, we can make suggestions regarding conducting a needs analysis, establishing priorities, assembling a complete curriculum, incorporating custom elements and unique training materials and delivering training. We attempt to sell solutions first and products second. Our experience and influence reaches far beyond the necessarily limited range of products and services represented in this catalog. We will, without hesitation, suggest alternate vendors, the products of others and alternate approaches, if they will meet your training needs. Test us with your unique problems and priorities. |

Our product offering can be intimidating... many products, many options, many approaches. Start by giving us a call. We are not high pressure salesman. We listen to your training needs (whether they relate to a single product or a complete maintenance training system), we will suggest solutions and we provide fully-detailed, firm price proposals for your review. Whether you need a device, textbook or video to supplement your existing program or a complete turn-key training lab, we use the same interactive approach. When considering a complete training system, our product offering can be particularly intimidating. Due to the breath of our product line,
the cost of color printing and the limited market for training devices of
this type we cannot justify a color catalog. We do, however, have color
photographs of all products available. Do not hesitate to call and ask us
for one or a dozen.
Located 20 minutes from
the Philadelphia International Airport, we are convenient, and with planning,
economical to visit. We usually have a variety of sample products available
for review and if appropriate, for use.
We regularly attend
trade shows and conferences relating to industrial training and technical
