Process Trainer, Temperature |
#602 | |
The DAC Process Trainer, Temperature, provides a realistic working fluid process designed for hands-on instrumentation and control training. The trainer is used to teach process measurement and control fundamentals relating to temperature and dependent variables using a classic shell and tube heat exchanger application. The device allows control loops to be configured employing feedback and feed-forward control methods using thermocouple and RTD inputs. Variable demand and supply disturbances are inserted using solenoid valves in combination with metered ball valves. This arrangement provides step-change disturbances for performing and verifying controller tuning. The integral heat exchanger and heater system provides an extremely dynamic temperature control system. Both hot and cold legs can be controlled. Common cold tap water is used as a cooling water source and is applied through industrial-quality, valved, quick-disconnect fittings. Piping is high heat-resistant PVC. The unit contains a 24 VDC power supply and two air regulators with gauges. All instrument electrical power supply and air sources are conveniently located on the front panel face. Most importantly, the device can be outfitted with custom instrument and control components to match site-specific training needs. Generic instrument and control packages are also available for applications where specialized components are not necessary. This device will make training in temperature measurement and control more realistic, efficient and effective in industrial training programs as well as within the technical college setting. |
