The DAC Process Trainer, Advanced, is a self-contained, realistic, working
fluid process designed for hands-on training. The training device is used
to teach process measurement and control fundamentals involving flow, pressure,
level, and temperature applications.
The trainer allows control loops to be configured employing feedback,
feed-forward, cascade, split range, ratio, and three-element control methods.
Variable demand and supply disturbances can be inserted using solenoid valves
in combination with metered ball valves. This arrangement provides step-change
disturbances for performing and verifying controller tuning. Extremely dynamic
and realistic cascade loops, pressure loops, and three-element control loops
can be created. The temperature measurement and control variable uses a
dynamic shell and tube heat exchanger process. Common tap water is used
as the cooling water source. All pneumatic control valves are compatible
with standard industry valve positioners.
The level tanks and piping systems are transparent, allowing visual inspection
of the process variables. The front panel-mounted controls provide on/off
control of all trainer components along with pilot lights showing component
status. The device contains an integral 24 VDC power supply and two air
regulators with gauges. All instrument electrical power supply and air supply
sources are conveniently located on the front control panel. |
